ABOUT US
The band originated via a chance meeting of two old friends at a blues Jam session. Maggie Ross and John Chaytor discovered that both were looking for a new direction musically......... and both were leaning backwards towards their musical roots in blues and soul!
They quickly gathered likeminded musicians and have now established themselves as one of the best bands to come out of the Northeast for quite some time. Their signature sound of guitar-led, soulful blues/rock is unmistakable - with powerful vocals from a little lady, the driving force behind their mix of original material and interpretations of classic covers.
All experienced musicians, the band have honed their skills as individuals over the years and come together to produce a tight - yet still essentially raw sound.

FEEDBACK
Loaded my copy of "Don't Mess With Me" as soon as it arrived and I wasn't disappointed. What a voice and what a band!
Maggie reminds me of her namesake, Maggie Bell of Stone The Crows, another Scottish lady who could sing! As far as the band; can't believe that three guys can put down such a rich platform for Maggie's strong voice.
I can imagine you playing live in a cellar bar and it sounding like the CD - full of energy! Please tell me you recorded it "live" without too many adjustments.
Favourite track is "Sunshine Blues", closely followed by "Lover Man" and "Giving Up On You"
Love a signed pic sometime!
Best of luck

Just received your album, Don't Mess With Me, and listened to it straight away. Now that's one terrific album. I thought it was all going to be hard driving blues until Giving Up On You. Nice!
I'll definitely try to make it to one of your gigs.
Good luck, and thank you.

Brilliant CD, Maggie! Long time since I heard the Blues played like that and you still have that same great voice that I remember from all those years ago when we worked together in the North East. Your lyrics really struck a chord with me.... powerful stuff!
Love and best wishes to you and your music.

Have been watching Maggie sing at the Skegness Rock and Blues festival Jam for a number of years now, so I was more than pleased that her Band were appearing as one of the main acts on the Blues Matters stage in Jaks this year. Wasn't quite sure what to expect, but was completely blown away!
A great sound, rocked from start to finish, I think the crowd's reaction said it all.
Thanks guys, loved every minute.

MAGGIE'S BLOG
April 3rd 2012Many thanks to Paul Jones for playing "Misfigured", a track from the album on his radio show last night. You can catch it on BBC iPlayer until 9th. He gave a terrific plug for the 1st Northern Rock n Blues Festival on Good Friday - and had this to say about us....... " that was the Maggie Ross Band - they're completely new to me until I received the album recently. The album is called "Don't Mess With Me" and y'know ...... the lady can certainly sing ..... she really belts 'em out! She can also do the more subtle kinda stuff too!" Read More |
