MAGGIE'S CHARLIE BEAR SPONSORSHIP

In 1978 the Charlie Bear for Cancer Care Appeal was launched by Daisy Clarke MBE in memory of her husband, Charlie. Its aim was to raise £1,000,000 to buy and maintain the very first CT scanner for the area.   As part of the fundraising effort, a song “Come On In” was written by local composer/musician, Mike Bersin, and Maggie was asked to record it! Sales of the single helped to achieve that £1,000,000 target.

Recently Maggie was diagnosed with terminal lung and brain cancer, with life expectancy of  3-4 months and referred to the Northern Cancer Centre at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne for palliative radiotherapy treatment. She was delighted to discover that at this cutting edge facility for Northeast cancer care is Charlie Bear!     www.charliebearappeal.org  Currently, there is a new goal to raise £3,000,000 for  specialised cybersurgery equipment, and Maggie very much wants to be a part of this campaign too.

Maggie has lived a colourful and interesting life and is passionate about her work in drama and music. Over the years she has met some wonderful, talented people and plans to reconnect and reminisce good times by hosting a party on Thurs. Aug. 23^rd at Washington Gardeners Club, NE37 3AB. It will be an entertainment filled event, with live music provided by numerous  singers and musicians, as well as Maggie’s own band.

And so...... an opportunity to raise funds for Charlie Bear! The private party is now open to anyone and everyone who would like to help provide  top class cancer treatment for cancer sufferers of the Northeast.  Come along and enjoy a terrific night of entertainment with buffet,  but do come prepared to dip deep into those pockets!
